References and Document Formatting
Complete citation checking and document formatting in APA 7th, Harvard, OSCOLA, Chicago, MLA, Vancouver, and all institutional variants.
Why referencing accuracy matters
Referencing errors directly cost marks. Inconsistent citation style, missing page numbers on direct quotations, malformed reference list entries, and orphan references (cited in-text but absent from the list, or vice versa) are all penalised in most UK university marking schemes. More significantly, referencing errors signal to markers a lack of attention to detail that can undermine confidence in the work as a whole. A meticulously formatted reference list, by contrast, signals scholarly rigour throughout.
Referencing styles we support
- Harvard (all institutional variants)
Used in business, social sciences, education, and health. Each institution publishes its own variant and we follow yours precisely. - APA 7th Edition
Standard for psychology, nursing, education, and many social sciences. All APA 7th changes from the 6th edition applied correctly. - OSCOLA
Oxford University Standard for Citation of Legal Authorities. Footnote format, Table of Cases, and bibliography all formatted correctly. - Chicago (author-date and footnote)
Both Chicago styles applied correctly for humanities, history, and social sciences disciplines. - MLA, Vancouver, and more
All standard academic referencing systems covered. If your institution uses a custom variant, share the guidelines and we follow them exactly.
Document formatting
Beyond citation checking, we format complete documents to institutional standards: correct heading hierarchy, page numbering, line spacing, margins, font specifications, table and figure captions, and appendix formatting. For dissertations approaching submission, a full formatting review ensures every element of the document meets the precise requirements set by your institution.
Can you reformat an entire dissertation?
Yes. Full document reformatting including all chapters, reference lists, tables, figures, and appendices is one of our most common pre-submission requests.
Do you work with Zotero or Mendeley output?
Yes. Reference manager output frequently contains formatting errors or style inconsistencies. We check and correct regardless of how the references were originally generated.
How long does a reference list check take?
A reference list of 20 to 40 sources is typically checked and corrected within 24 hours. Larger documents take proportionally longer. Share your deadline and we will confirm turnaround immediately.
